I study rhetoric at the intersections of race, religion, and gender from a womanist theoretical perspective. I identify the words, ways, and wisdom of Black women's speech in public and private spheres. I analyze their discourse in various pulpits, podiums, and political platforms.

What is Most Important

I am a native Memphian, and proud of it. Beyond my research, teaching, preaching, and military service, my family is my most important gift and priority.

I am the wife of Dr. Dennis C. Dickerson, Jr. who teaches Classics and educational technology. We are the proud parents of Dennis C. Dickerson, III (better known as “D3”) who is the light of our lives.
